The 6 Keys to Profit

Paige and I have been studying Universal Laws and Personal Prosperity Principles for years (I mean decades), but it wasn’t until we added Business Success Strategies and more importantly ACTION to the mix that we actually began to PROFIT. live girls

And that is exactly what I want to talk to you about today… Profit.

We want to share with you the 6 Keys you can use to unlock the door to profits, so you can start to profit in your business and in your life.

The Keys are simple and you may already have several of them in your possession, but are you using them in the right order?

Let’s go ahead and jump in:

1) Plan -Your plan is the first and foundational key. With your plan you are able to focus your energy and attention. You know what to do and when.

Your plan includes who your ideal client is and where to find them – your Niche. It also includes how you help them, what you charge and how you package it – your Offer.

Your plan also includes how you talk to them and what you do to bring them into work with you – this is Sales Strategy.

Your plan tells you exactly how much money you need to live the way you desire and exactly how many clients you need for that to happen – your Goal.

As you can see, having your Plan is really important and it is nearly impossible to profit without a plan. The other cool thing about your plan is, if you ever get lost or confused you just need to return to your plan.

2) Resilience – Now resilience or persistence is so key that Napoleon Hill wrote an entire chapter about it in Think and Grow Rich.

After spending 25 years in the entertainment industry and spending years studying successful people, the thing that I see that separates those who succeed from those who quit is that the successful people got up off the mat one more time than they got knocked down. That has certainly been the case for Paige and me.

Resilience requires you to continually move forward (even if it’s a baby-step). Resilience requires you to grow and expand, to invest in yourself and in your business.

To surround yourself with like-minded people, people who can hold the Truth for you, even when you can’t see it for yourself. It’s all about getting support!!

Without Resilience there can be no profit, for if you are not being persistent and consistent, you will not still be standing when the profits you are currently attracting start coming to you.

3) Opportunity – Raymond Holliwell tells us that we cannot have a desire without the way for that desire to come into our life being present in your life right now.

Now, I don’t know about you, but it was really hard for me to “see” any opportunity when Paige and I couldn’t see any way to pay our bills. I couldn’t “see” the opportunity when we ate rice and beans for a whole month. But it was there the WHOLE time. And once we saw the opportunity and took action on it, we more than quadrupled our income in 1 month.

That’s the thing about opportunity, it seldom comes in through the front door saying, “I’m here!”

Napoleon Hill calls it the sly disguise of opportunity, and shares that it often comes disguised as temporary defeat.

This is why it is so important to be resilient and to surround yourself with mentors who can help you see the opportunity that is right in front of you.

4) Focus – What you focus on expands, so make sure you’re focusing on what you want not what you don’t. Your thoughts and words have power, use them wisely.

Again surround yourself with like-minded people that are not coming from a lack mentality.

We actually had to separate ourselves from many friends, family members and even entertainment choices, until we were able to control what we focused on.

This is where having that plan can truly simplify your life. You have your Goal and all the steps to get there.

You’re clear about your next steps and you are taking those steps every day. And you have accountability in place to help you attain your goals.

5) Immersion – This is where you take time to work ON your business, not IN your business.

This is key, because what we see all the time (and we have been guilty of this our selves) is spending so much time working in our business that we lose perspective and lose our footing… and wow, we’ve even seen people lose themselves.

That’s why Paige and I take time to get immersed ON our business all the time. Whether it’s a VIP day with one of our mentors, a Master Mind retreat with like-minded business owners, or our weekly get-together with each other.

We take time out to check in with our plan and our goals. We are consistently asking the questions… What can we create that will help our people even more? What trend are we seeing, how can we maximize what is happening out in the world and bring it back to our community to help them grow and expand their businesses?

6) Team – This is truly the most ignored and misunderstood key to profits, and without this key the rest will truly fall apart and the door to profits will slam shut on you.

You need to create your success yourself, but you can’t do it alone.

That’s why it’s critical to your success that you have the support you need to reach your goals. You truly need a team in place to create the business and success you truly desire.

If Paige and I didn’t have a team, we wouldn’t be able to maintain our business and it certainly would not grow. The same is true for you.

The only things you should be doing in your business is your client work (whatever it is you do for your clients) and getting new clients. A.K.A. working in your brilliance and only your brilliance.

Now you may not be ready to hire a 5 person team, but you can get a VA (virtual assistant) to help you a few hours a month getting your newsletter out, etc. Every time we have invested in getting more team support our profits have leaped forward.

The other critical part of your team, is your mentor. You need one…period. It’s that simple. There is no one I can think of who is successful in business without a mentor.

Your Mentor is the person who has been there, has seen it. They are further down the road. They are constantly growing and learning more. They hold that successful vision for you even when you can’t.

Your Mentor helps you develop the Plan that works for you. They help keep you Resilient and perseverant. They help you see the Opportunity, especially when you can’t. They help keep you Focused, so you are constantly moving toward your goal. They help you get Immersed ON your business and help you keep perspective. And finally they help you to build the Team that will support you in your success.

As you can see your Mentor will help you to P.R.O.F.I.T.

ASSIGNMENT

Ask yourself if you are taking the steps to P.R.O.F.I.T.?

Do you have a clear and simple Plan for your business?

Are you being Resilient in all you do?

Are you looking for Opportunity in everything?

Are you Focused on what you desire?

Are you Immersing yourself ON your business?

Do you have your Team in place? Including your Mentor and support?

Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t have everything in place. Just ask yourself, “What’s the one thing I could do today to move closer to having this in place?” Then take action on that one thing.

See, you’re already being more Resilient.

Remarriage Preparation – Is Love Enough?

Over 60% of remarriages end in a re-divorce. Just let that one sink in a minute. It’s a scary statistic. If you’re like most people, you just read that and thought, “Yeah, but that’s not us.” Let me stop you right there. If you’re preparing to remarry, it IS you! You do run a higher likelihood of getting a divorce than of having a successful remarriage.

I don’t mean to sound real negative. I just want to make sure you’re being realistic. Living in a fantasy world of denial doesn’t help you prepare for the challenges that await you.

I always ask my new coaching clients, “Why are you wanting to get remarried?” I know I’m in trouble when they look at each other, giggle and say with a swoon, “Because we’re in love!” My usual response to that is, “Ok, why else?”

Don’t get me wrong, love is important. But if that’s your main motivation, you’ve got a long road ahead. Love is a great feeling. It produces highs similar to any illegal drug around. But just like a drug, you do come down from that high and have to face reality. What are some of those realities?

You don’t pay attention to compatability – Just because a chemical reaction happens in a big way when you’re around each other, doesn’t mean that you can live together and create a successful life with one another. Compatibility has to do with being able to get along, compromise, having similar lifestyles.

Romantic love is an emotion – Most movies deify this emotion as the ultimate goal to any relationship. What you aren’t told is that this romantic love high usually only lasts for about 18 months. After that, your relationship tends to fade into oblivion or the emotions mature into a stable, long-term love. This change in feeling comes as a shock to a lot of newlyweds, thus bringing the dreaded, “I love him/her, but I’m not ‘in love’ with them.”

The relationship is immature at this point – Because you’re both still focused on the “oohs & aahs”, you may not be able to clearly look at the challenges that are in store for you with a remarriage and creation of a step family. It takes time for a relationship to mature into one that will stick together through screaming children (who are not your own), pressure from ex-spouses, and various other people who are not real thrilled about you being the new spouse.

I believe it is because of this 18 month rule, that research has shown time and time again that couples who date at least 2 years have the greatest success at remarriage. I urge you, to slow things down a bit. This may be the person you’ve been waiting for. If it is, then there’s no reason to rush to the altar, they are going to stick with you as you both take the time to adequately prepare for this new life together.

Casino Games – A Personal Review Of Ruby Fortune Casino

If you enjoy playing online casino games but are worried about customer support and safety, I would suggest you to opt in for Ruby Fortune Casino, a very reliable and trusted online casino. I am now recommending this casino as I recently checked out their customer service record and was very satisfied with the results. The software was easy to install and I could regulate the game myself without any further assistance. To be absolutely certain, I again referred to several player forums, and as it turns out, Ruby Fortune comes highly recommended by most casino players.

I took only 160 seconds to download the casino software and the download process was very easy and pretty straightforward. I simply clicked the big red ruby button twice and the software was quickly installed on my desktop. While downloading the game, I was allowed to register my username and password. So, all in all I was up and running playing the casino games quite fast.

The James Bond style and theme of the website was an added feature that inspired me to download the games. At the point of starting, a 007 tune and the lively falling of gems sets the mood prior to playing.

Making your first deposit and placing your first bet can be a little bit confusing at times in many online casinos. However, at Ruby Fortune Casino, I did enjoy the quick and efficient deposit and withdrawal methods. The transaction options available are E-wallet, bank transfers and prepaid vouchers including those purchased with credit and debit cards. I made my first deposit using the uKash payment option and it took only a minute to complete the payment.

The casino games are powered by the latest the updated Microgaming software. The software takes the advantage of almost 220 high spec gaming options. If you play Ruby Casino, you will experience an adequate balance between gaming, style and the graphic, which are the primary elements of any online casino. As a casino player, I prefer all rounding qualities which Ruby Casino obviously offers. Ruby casino offers table gaming, Microgaming Gold roulette, blackjack, poker, craps and baccarat in addition slots machines that you can feel in real casinos only. Slot machine is the most entertaining moment of Ruby Casino.

Banking interface related to Ruby Fortune is very safe than any other top online casinos. If you want to withdraw the cash, you can do it via your previous deposit method. I withdrew my first winning cash via Visa Electron.

Nowadays, I am spending a good fortune on online casinos, or better to say on Ruby Casino and I will highly recommend this to anybody who settles for nothing but the top online casinos.

Top Stolen Cars

Looking for a new car can be a very fun and exciting time. With all of the options to choose from, it is easy to go with the shiniest object. However, if you are going to make a true investment, it is important to take the time and do your research. In our society there is the threat of your car being stolen and vandalized. So before you even apply for your car loan, take a look at our list of the top cars that are stolen. We don’t mean to deter you; we just want to warn you.

Ford F-150. This truck is on the list mainly because of its popularity. In the last 25 years this truck has been one of the best-selling trucks in America. Therefore its accessibility is what adds to it being stolen a bunch.

Ford Taurus. Again, the main reason that this car gets stolen is because of its popularity. For every group of cars that are stolen it is likely that at least one of them will be a Taurus.

Jeep Grand Cherokee. The reasoning behind this car being on the list is because of the demand in utility vehicles. Since they are in demand, thieves know that they will have an easier time off loading them onto someone else.

Honda Civic. The parts that comprise this car are the reason behind its stealing. Even though this is a relatively cheap buy, the parts associated with the car are worth more therefore thieves like to steal their parts on the black market.

Cadillac Escalade. This car comes in many forms. The most popular to be stolen are the models that include a truck bed. Cadillac is continuously trying to make adjustments to make these cars less likely to be broken into or stolen.

Hummer. Many of these vehicles come with accessories that are very profitable for thieves. Chrome wheels, and pricey parts add this vehicle to the list.

Dodge Charger. This cars are very fast and punch a powerful engine. Being equipped with a HEMI makes them a thief target.

Like we said, we do not in any way want to deter you from buying your dream car. Our only aim is to provide you with the knowledge that you need to protect yourself once you start shopping for car loan rates. Knowing is half the battle. If you do buy a car, make sure you but the security system. This is one special feature that there is no reason to skip. You won’t be able to enjoy your upgraded sound system without the car itself.

State Run and Owned Bookmaker Sold for 265m, What Will the Future Hold?

The Tote or “Horserace Totalisor Board,” who at present are trading as Totesport is a British bookmaker that has its head offices in Wigan. It was owned and operated from 1928 to July 2011, by the British government, until its ?265m sale to Betfred.

Tote was started by Winston Churchill as a statutory corporation under the Racecourse Betting Act 1928 as The Racehorse Betting control Board. His reasons for doing so were to produce a state owned, and maintained substitute to criminal bookmaking. It also meant that any returns from the bets was put back into the sport, and also the state reaped the benefit of the revenue too. After it’s production, the bookmaker took to its first ever meeting offering Tote bets at Carlisle and Newmarket in July of 1929.

The board was reconstituted as the Horserace Totalisor Board under the Betting Levy Act 1961; this meant the board was liable for redistribution of funds to racing shifted to the Horserace Betting Levy board.

Tote sustained through the years and went on to open it’s primary betting shop on the UK high street in the year of 1972. It then went on to generate jobs for and employ over 4,000 people. In 1992 Tote Direct was formed which intended to channel tote bets from other bookmakers into what became known as a tote pool. Now, some 7,000 betting shops in the UK receive tote style bets.

As bookmaking grew in level of popularity, the state control of the tote became a very problematic matter. This led to a 1989 conservative government recommending the tote was to be sold and privatized. This was met with fierce oppositional views by the racing community and these plans were dumped in 1995.

The 1997 general election saw the then home secretary Michael Howard succeeded by Jack Straw, who released a fresh study into the potential privatization of the tote. By 2001, the privatization was made a commitment in their manifesto. In order for a sale to be possible a new act known as the Horserace Betting and Olympic Lottery Act 2004 was approved, this was solely to enable the Tote to be converted to a limited company from a statutory corporation.

Gordon Brown, Chancellor of the Exchequer in 2006 published further plans for the privatization in the budget of that year. The government invited a racing consortium and Tote Staff to formally bid for the Tote by a deadline of 26th January 2007. The bid was submitted and discarded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport as the Tote was backed by private equity. In 2008, the government reported the Tote would be sold on the open market. On the 12 of October 2009, Gordon Brown reported several publicly owned assets would be sold, including the Tote, however no progress was made on this, and Gordon Brown lost the election and a new coalition government was formed.

The new government initiated a challenging bidding process with a mentioned 18 bidders. The government publicly announced on the 31st of January 2011 that a shortlist had been formed. In May 2011, it was confirmed only two bidders remained Sports Invest Partners and Betfred. On the 3rd of June 2011 it was confirmed that Betfred had been chosen by Culture Secretary Jeremy hunt as the victorious bidder, for a reported sale figure of ?265 million. The process was finished and the sale finalized as of 13th July 2011.

Betfred, a very well favoured UK bookmaker produced by Fred Done aka “The Bonus King” popular for liberal free bets and offers, have so far not reported any plans to merge the two into one model. However for the time being, we are yet to know what the foreseeable future holds for the Tote.

How To Dial Up Great Guitar Sounds Using Your MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay Pedal

Electric guitarists tend to be very non-technical, instant gratification types of people. As such, they like their guitar pedals to be very simple to use. That’s why very few pedals have more than three knobs or buttons. But sometimes even three knobs can be intimidating. The only way to get past these fears is to spend some time learning what the controls on your guitar pedal do. As an example, let’s look at how to dial-up great sounds using your MXR Carbon Copy analog delay pedal.

Insert the Carbon Copy into your signal chain.

The simplest way to do this is to plug your guitar directly into the Input jack of the Carbon Copy. Then connect the Output jack of the Carbon Copy directly to the Input of your guitar amp.

If you have other pedals in your signal chain you will need to decide where to patch in the Carbon Copy. The general rule of thumb for guitar signal chains is dynamics processing (compressor/limiters), followed by distortion/boosters followed by modulation processing (delay/reverb).

Understanding what each control does

Delay – The Delay knob allows you to adjust the amount of delay time from 20ms (fully counter-clockwise) to 600ms (fully clockwise).

Regen – The Regen knob allows you to adjust the number of delay repeats from one (fully counter-clockwise) to infinite (fully clockwise). This control works in conjunction with the Delay knob so the amount of Regen varies based on your Delay setting.

Mix – The Mix knob allows you to vary the amount of delayed, or “wet”, signal from fully dry (fully counter-clockwise) to equal amounts of wet and dry (fully clockwise).

Mod – The Modulation button allows you to add a certain amount of modulation to the delay signal. Modulation is an effect that varies the pitch of a signal by a small, regularly occurring amount, creating a warbling effect. There are two internal trim pots that allow you to adjust the width and rate controls of the modulation effect.

Effect on/off switch – Like most guitar pedals, the Carbon Copy has a foot-switch that toggles on and off.

Some suggestions

Start with the Delay and Mix knobs set fully clockwise and the Regen knob set full counter-clockwise. Turn the pedal on by stepping on the footswitch. A blue LED illuminates when the effect is engaged. Now all you need to do is dial in your desired sound by adjusting the three knobs in relation to each other.

Whatever your approach to using guitar pedals is, don’t be afraid to just twist the knobs on your Carbon Copy to see what happens. Some of the best guitar tones were created by accident.

What Women Want in a Marital Relationship

Every woman enters a marital relationship with all kinds of expectations. Some of this expectations are quite normal while others are quite exaggerated. However, there are general things that women want and expect in a relationship. They expect a man to be loving. Loving enough to be able to show it and tell them that they love them. Though to you it might seem stupid and that you are with them and that is enough proof that you love them, women expect to be told and reminded once in a while that they are loved. Get them a gift or a flower and a card and tell them that you love them and appreciate them.

If you have children in a marital relationship, the women expect that you will help them take care of the children and that you will share the responsibility of waking up when there is a problem with the children or taking them to school and attending all their games. If you leave all this to your wife, the only thing you will get from her is resentment. This is because they expect you to help out. A little help, even if it is very little will go a long way in making your wife to love you. At the end of it all, you also want your wife to fall in love with you just like you love her, so do what she expects to make life better for both of you.

In a marital relationship, a woman expects to be listened to. Sometimes they could be having a very important point that you will miss if you do not listen to her. Some men have the tendency of saying women are not bright and they are far much better off quiet than talking. This is not true, there are bright women out there, in fact some are brighter than most men. When she talks and tries to make you see a point listen and if you do not see the point she is making you can tell her in a polite way. The most important part is that you listen. If you are having a conversation with her, do not appear to be the one who keeps talking, give her a chance to air her views about something. She also has views you should know.

Women in a marital relationship expects that a man will be able to create time for her. A man should never be too busy to see his own wife. If you are too busy, you will be communicating to your wife that she is not important and that money and other things are far much important than her. As much as money is needed for the daily running of the household, you should also create time in between your making money and sleeping hours to see your wife and treat her in a special way. If you do all these, you will be surprised how you relationship will change from better to excellent. Go on and meet some of your wife expectations. You might not meet all of them but you would have tried.

How to Overcome Performance Anxiety/Stage Fright

Some people have severe performance anxiety. They find themselves stiff and at a loss for words when they have to stand before a group of people to sing, or perform in any way. A person with performance anxiety may feel that they are incapable of performing well because of their fears, but there is hope. You can learn to manage your fears and still be able to perform in front of people very well. There are a few things you can do to overcome the anxiety of performing.

Firstly, know your material very well. Practice reciting it while imagining you are actually in front of people. You never know what you’ve truly memorized and what you haven’t until you try to perform it. You will probably black out the first few times but it’s a good thing to learn how to get through these feelings and still perform. The next step is to perform it in front of a few loved ones. Don’t be silly and laugh if you mess up. Instead, give a serious rendition and allow them to tell you where you need improvement. If you can this enough times you will allow yourself to adjust to the initial shock of performing for an audience.

Secondly, do breathing exercises to reduce your performance anxiety. Breathing exercises help to release tension in your throat and abdomen. Before you start, inhale and count to four and exhale and count to four. Doing slow breathing also slows down your heartbeat. This helps to reduce your nervous feeling and make you more relaxed and focused when performing.

Sometimes ‘getting into character’ helps with performance anxiety. It may help to imagine yourself as someone else while performing. You can channel their personality and confidence so that you don’t feel so vulnerable while performing. Consider it acting in some ways. Study the writer’s perspective and allow yourself to become that character when singing. To do that, you should study how the ‘voice ‘of the song thinks, feels, and acts. Empathize and embody that message when you sing. Remember, the audience essentially just wants to hear the message you are bringing anyway. You just happen to be the messenger.

Stage fright doesn’t have to be crippling and it certainly doesn’t have to mean that you can’t be a great performer. By polishing your skills, practicing and doing relaxation techniques you can overcome it to perform at your best.

Validate Your Way To Gay Relationship Bliss

Introduction

Over the years, I’ve had slews of couples come through my office with a variety of presenting issues that range anywhere from communication breakdowns, to sexual dysfunctions, to infidelities, to diminished passion, etc. These only name but a few, but the common denominator that appears pervasive throughout most relationship difficulties is a climate of tension, resentment, and mistrust that results when the partners don’t feel acknowledged or honored by each other. This can erode the foundation that the relationship is built upon and jeopardizes the love, closeness, and attachment the couple had developed. Mayday! Mayday! Relationship rescue is now needed!

The interpersonal skill of validation is one technique that can help enrich any relationship and is a great tool for solidifying emotional bonds and fostering more intimacy between loving partners. This article will explore the concept of validation and offer suggestions for incorporating more of it with your partner to promote more heightened “relationship bliss.”

What Is Validation?

In the initial stages of dating, it’s not too difficult to validate each other. This “honeymoon phase” of relationship development is depicted by high chemistry, thinking about each other all the time and wanting to devote energy to being with one another. You feel excited and boosted by the other’s attraction for you and attention. It requires very little effort and is usually described as a “magical” feeling. Over time, however, this “spark” tends to diminish and is a normal sign of the maturing of the relationship, not necessarily a signal that something is wrong.

Long-term relationships require lots of validation for sustenance and nourishment. Validation is letting your partner know how much you appreciate him. It’s being attentive to his needs and acknowledging him as someone of value to you, regardless of whether you agree or disagree about areas of contention. It’s making him feel important, showing him how much meaning he brings to your life. Validation is the ultimate expression of love for your partner. The key is to be genuine, consistent, and deliver it in the style to which you know your partner likes to be attended.

Validate Your Man!

The greatest way to validate your lover is to use your knowledge and wisdom of his needs, personality, tastes, and preferences and communicate it verbally or through action in ways that will have the most and meaning and impact for him.

In his groundbreaking book, “The Five Love Languages (2004)”, Dr. Gary Chapman, Ed.D exposes how we all express love in different ways; what is meaningful and validating to you may be indifferent to your boyfriend. The key to relationship success, according to Chapman, is to understand each other’s unique needs and learn the correct love language to express so each partner is fulfilled. Chapman identifies the five specific love languages as:

1. Words of Affirmation (verbal compliments & appreciations, kind words, encouragement)

2. Quality Time (togetherness, conversation, activities)

3. Receiving Gifts (flowers, surprise gifts)

4. Acts of Service (doing things for your partner that he likes/wants)

5. Physical Touch (affection, holding hands, back rubs, kissing, sex)

By speaking your partner’s primary love language, you are validating him in a way that matters most to him and increases the chances he’ll reciprocate back to meet your needs in ways you prefer.

Validate Yourself!

An important point needs to be made in that it’s critical you learn how to validate yourself too! While giving and receiving validation with your partner is a positive relationship skill to practice, it’s equally vital to empower yourself. You don’t want to create a dependency on your partner to meet all your needs; you are responsible for your own happiness and should avoid placing expectations on your relationship to fulfill your life. Learn how to boost your self-esteem and soothe yourself when life or your relationship gets tenuous. This will help you cope better with disappointments and avoid placing pressure on your partner for something you must take ownership for. As partners, teach each other on how you best like to be treated, but also be proactive in taking charge of your own life and making things happen for your success.

Action Challenges

1. As an exercise, both you and your partner can make separate lists detailing what you imagine your lover doing that would be pleasing to you. Then at a later time, exchange your lists, talk about them, and begin performing the items on the lists. This can be an easy reference for accomplishing tasks that you each know would be validating for the other.

2. Purchase the book “The Five Love Languages” by Gary Chapman. While written primarily for a heterosexual audience, the material definitely pertains to gay couples as well and I highly recommend it as a valuable resource. What is your primary love language? What is your partner’s? How can you work together as a team to meet each other’s needs in ways that you each appreciate the most in your own unique styles of preference? The book also contains personal assessment tools and exercises to help you integrate the content into your relationship.

Conclusion

While validation won’t solve all your relationship woes, it certainly will go a long way toward creating a climate of support, encouragement, and attentiveness that can inspire more intimacy, trust, and commitment. Make a conscious effort to learn more about your partner’s needs and your own and tailor approaches that will create the most impact for both of you. With practice, validation will become second nature and “relationship bliss” can be yours for the taking!

Month of Love – February

Come February and we look ahead in anticipation to the season of love. Spring is in the air, flowers are in full bloom, and even the most pragmatic of us find a swing in our steps and our spirits rising without any specific reason. So, what is this magic in the air that we can distinctively perceive? The romantics would say that this is the magic of love.

February 14th is celebrated throughout the world as Valentine’s Day. Legend has it that St. Valentine was a priest in Rome, who defied the order of the Roman emperor of the time and secretly married young couples. Claudius II, who was the emperor at that time, decreed that young men in Rome should not marry or get engaged. The emperor believed that his soldiers would not be motivated to fight, if they got entangled in romantic liaisons or affairs of the heart. When the emperor found out about the defiance, he beheaded St. Valentine on February 14th. After his death, the priest who supported love was named a saint. Valentine’s Day is celebrated each year to honor St. Valentine.

That was long before any of us were even born. But, still we can identify with the frustrations of unrequited love in those turbulent times! We can look back and say that we would never allow such outrages to take place in the present day and world. Every 14th day of February, we remember the sacrifices that people have made in different ages and across different parts of the world for love and we vow to cherish our loved ones with all our heart and soul. All of us, from teenagers with dreams in their eyes to couples celebrating the 25th anniversary of a shared life, open our hearts and bow our heads to the most cherished of all emotions – love.

Actually, the times that we live in are more open and accommodating. We have gained immensely in terms of materialistic acquisitions and are blessed with a better standard of living than even a generation before us. However, there has also been a gradual loss of innocence, simplicity and the belief in eternal love. At present, there a large number of people amidst us, who are leading a double life. From the outside, we are hip and happening; we change our life partners and girl friends as frequently as we change the models of our cars. But, I believe that, inside all of us there is a simple person, who still believes in the wonder of love and its tremendous power in changing the courses of our lives. The celebration of love and Valentine’s Day can be better understood in this context.

So with the advent of February, we start looking at the world in a different light. Maybe, it is due to the hype and hoopla about the celebration of Valentine’s Day or maybe we turn to the most pure and sanctified feelings in our hearts in an effort to deal with the harsh realities of today’s world. Or maybe we need a cause to connect with our souls and discover our better sides; and Valentine’s Day gives us an occasion to do just that without any feeling of guilt on our naivety and our belief in love.

Whatever may be the reason, it is a fact that February represents a lot of good things for a large number of people in different regions of the world. We greet the season with faith in ourselves and in the whole world; to many of us February is a month of miracle, faith, hope, prayer and love. I am convinced that despite all the obstacles that we, human beings, have conquered in our journey towards attaining economic and material prosperity, we would be still indebted to this month of love and laughter for what it signifies in all our lives.
